For years, Apple has been renowned for its leading-edge design—whether it's the meticulous attention to detail in hardware aesthetics or the elegance of its software design—and that same polish, along with its development standards, has won over a huge community of developers.
But at WWDC 2025, Apple pulled a real stunt on us 🥲 They went and brought the Vision OS design language to all their other operating systems 🥲
Applying this much glass material across the board is way ahead of its time and just doesn't suit every device. In my opinion, this design language belongs on a headset like the Apple Vision Pro—not on the little brick (iPhone), the brick (iPad), or the big brick (MacBook). The screens are too small, so instead of that stunning glass effect, you just get worse readability.
Plus, the accessibility that Apple has championed for years feels a bit too skeuomorphic in this new design language. Maybe Apple is playing a much bigger game here...?
